How do I know if I need therapy?
Counseling is an excellent form of support for whenever life begins
to feel overwhelming or you begin to feel stuck in old patterns
that no longer are useful or helpful.
How
long does therapy last?
There is no magic number of sessions as the work is unique to each
individual. Together we will decide now many sessions will provide
you with the relief and satisfaction you desire.
Do
you take insurance?
Although I do not work with insurance companies directly, I can
provide you with documentation that you can submit to your insurance
company for possible reimbursement.
What is Sandtray therapy?
Through the use of a variety of objects and figures, both symbolic
and representative of your world, you create a fantasy scene or
miniature world that becomes a metaphorical story that can represent
the conflicts and feelings that you may not have been aware of.
This is a subtle yet profound therapeutic technique that children
as well as adults find insightful. You can check www.sandplay.org
and www.sandtray.org for more
information. What is Gestalt play therapy?
Play is truly the language of children. Children under the age of
12 have a limited ability to verbalize their feelings and thoughts
and so talking about their problems with a therapist is difficult.
However, through play, children express their feelings, master new
skills, integrate new experiences into their understanding of their
world, and hone their problem-solving and coping abilities. My job
is to create a safe and comfortable place for them to explore these
issues in as well as to use words to reflect and express what they
thus communicate through their play.
What
is Theraplay?
All are aware of the importance of the early bonding/attachment
that occurs between an adult and a baby. This relationship
is the cornerstone for future relationship “buildings”.
Theraplay is all about healing and strengthening a child’s
sense of attachment to an adult. In Theraplay the child is given
the opportunity to re-experience the early types of connecting with
others through play as guided by the therapist. This is a very effective model for use with adopted
children and their parents. The website is www.theraplay.org.
